2020 WeHelp Day of Giving:
December 5, 2020
Grace United Methodist Church Drive Way
( Auburn, 915 E. Glenn Ave, next to Kroger)
The 2020 WeHelp Day of Giving fundraiser was a huge success! We truly appreciate the generous donations received during this event! With the help of our community and Habitat family, we were able to raise +$15,000, which exceeded our $10,000 fundraising goal! These funds will be recycled to help us build more homes soon. Read below to learn more about this successful event:
Auburn Opelika Habitat and the WeHelp Coalition of Churches normally hold an annual Cookie Walk fundraiser to raise money to build homes for our partner families. Unfortunately, last year we were unable to have the traditional fundraiser due to safety concerns and COVID-19 restrictions. However, a different kind of fundraiser took place with safety measures put into effect. On December 5, 2020, the WeHelp Coalition of Churches hosted a drive-through donation event in the parking lot of Grace United Methodist Church. As donors entered the parking lot, they drove through a line of 69 Habitat homeowners, volunteers, and supporters – each one holding a house that represented the 69 homes that Habitat for Humanity has built in Lee County since its founding. At the end of the line, monetary donations were collected by volunteers, and in keeping with our Cookie Walk theme, each donor received an individually-wrapped cookie.
We appreciate our community coming together to help us continue improving the lives of our partner families during unprecedented times. Our partner families work very hard to save a down payment, volunteer 500 hours to work on other homes and their own, complete home ownership and financial classes, and make a no-interest mortgage payment which is recycled to help build more homes. Thank you for taking the time to help us secure the funds to continue building and improving our community. Together we build homes, community, and hope.
Thank you to the WeHelp Coalition of Churches for working with us to create an event where everyone, including donors, can remain socially distant. Click below to view all of the churches that have given there time and efforts to make this possible:
The WeHelp Day of Giving is a fundraiser sponsored by the WeHelp Coalition to benefit Habitat for Humanity. Thank you for your continued support. We hope to bring the Christmas Cookie Walk Sale back this year.
